RSVP for the NYC Indie Games Social, April Fools Edition next week

2026-03-24

Hello!

Next week is both the first Wednesday and the first day of April, which means we’re celebrating April Fools NYC Indie Games style.

The April edition of the NYC Indie Games Social is Wednesday 4/1, 7-10pm, indoors in the Madison Square region.

Space is limited and spots go fast, so RSVP here: https://luma.com/iw9ma2vl

I’m currently upstate visiting family for a little breather post-GDC, which was a whirlwind. I’ll save the full update for my personal newsletter, but indulge me in sharing some relevant highlights:

Jenny Jiao Hsia, AP Thomson, and Jess Haskins with Titanium Court’s two IGF awards

Games by NYC indies made a strong showing in the IGF awards, including honors for multiple nominee and Best Audio winner Baby Steps, Best Student Game nominee Kiloton, and of course Titanium Court, which took home Excellence in Design and the Seumas McNally Grand Prize. (I got to hold it, it was heavy!) I didn’t make it to the GDC awards the next day, but NYC indies were well represented there too, including Consume Me, Baby Steps, BALL x PIT, and Despelote—which also won a Latinx Game Award, for which Rosewater was also nominated. There were probably a bunch of others that I missed, because we’re everywhere and keeping track of NYC indie awesomeness is frankly a full time job and then some. Congrats to all the winners and nominees!

Game editorial folks of all stripes coming together in the sunshine

I didn’t organize an NYC meetup like I’ve done in years past, but I did host a well attended lunch to soft-launch the Game Editorial Network, a new networking group I’m spinning up for editors, localizers, and narrative folks in games. Some wonderful introductions were made and delightful conversations had, but the true miracle was managing to get a table for all of us in Yerba Buena at the height of the afternoon rush.

I imagine those who went to GDC should be emerging from their post-travel backlog and recovery about now, and those who didn’t can taunt us with tales of all the money saved, germs dodged, and work accomplished instead. Can’t wait to catch up over a drink next week!

Cheers,

Jess
