22 blips from October 2026 on Numeric Citizen Blips.
| π‘β¨ I Was There Oct 3 Montreal by night β Since COVID, I've been taking a walk in my neighbourhood. At sunset, there are many opportunities like this one to catch great light. This is the view looking west. Follow the trail. | ![]() |
β Links π Messy but getting there Oct 3
My current writing project is going well, and I'm super happy about how Craft supports my writing workflow. It's still messy, but I expect to spend more time organizing my thoughts and cleaning up what I no longer need. crafted.numericcitizen.me/from-15promax-to-1β¦
π‘β¨ I Was There Oct 3
Montreal by night β It's an old building on Sherbrooke Street E, near the Olympic Stadium. I often pass it during the day while biking on Rachel Street, but at night it feels different. Follow the trail.
π‘β¨ I Was There Oct 3
Montreal by night β Lots of terraces on Ontario Street in Hochelaga-Maisonneuve. It's really cool to walk this street at night, though it sadly doesn't always feel like the safest place in Montreal. Follow the trail.
β Links π Contemplating M5 MacBook Pro Oct 4
I can see myself upgrading from my M2 15-inch MacBook Air to a slimmer, lighter and more powerful M5 14-inch MacBook Pro sporting a high-resolution OLED screen, albeit a bit smaller. I could sell my M4 Mac mini and return my M2 MacBook Air to help finance this purchase. macrumors.com/2025/10/06/m5-macbook-pro-launβ¦
π Now β Scribbling Oct 8
I knew Scribbles.page supported visual tweaks to hosted blogs with custom CSS, but I remembered I could build a new visual theme from scratch. This morning, I explored this capability with Claude AI by sharing all relevant documentation links, and 20 minutes later I had something working in preview mode. π± It's not live yet because I want to restyle my blog so that it shares many visual attributes from my other blog here. But I also want to keep some of Scribbles' default theme personality. Stay tuned.
π Now β With updated visuals Oct 8
I'm done updating this blog's theme. If you know about my other websites, you'll feel at home here, too. I tried to keep a few visual details that are reminiscent of Scribbles' original design. It was much easier than I thought, and I know why. Not only Scribbles.page is a very flexible blog hosting service, but its documentation is also extensive. Feeding Claude AI with the custom theme building documentation helped seal the deal to build a custom theme.
β Links π Going to OLED MacBook Pro Oct 9
MacRumors reports that a new OLED MacBook Pro is coming soon. Compared to my M2 15-inch MacBook Air, the upcoming rumoured MacBook Pro brings a lot to the table: 1. About the same weight (3.4 lbs) because I would go from a 15-inch to a 14-inch Mac 2. A much more Pro XDR-level display (that was already available with the current generation of MacBook Pro) with a 120 Hz refresh rate! 3. A higher-resolution screen but a smaller one (From 2880 x 1864 pixels to 3024 x 1964 pixels) 4. Now with a touchscreen with macOS 27.2 support (I expect this change for the Mac to be like when Apple introduced mouse support for the iPad) ⒠Support for scrolling webpage content, panning and zooming into photos⦠Read more
β Links π Nice touch, Apple Oct 10
This is what I like about Apple: personalized experiences. Booting up 'your' device and seeing your name on the screen, so nice. It's not a big deal, but this adds up. macrumors.com/β¦/iphone-duo-name-personalization
π Now β Giving the iPad with external display another try Oct 11
I've been doing this on and off since getting my M4 iPad Pro, and it always has been a mixed experience. The iPad is currently on iPadOS 27.2 beta 2. I'm using Apple Notes and Safari to prepare for my next trip in Thailand at the end of this month. A few observations: ⒠Control Center is still not available on the external display! How hard is this to add? Reaching the iPad display for this is diminishing the experience of a "full-blown" computer. ⒠Resizing windows creates such weird animation artifacts. Can this ever be improved? ⒠Notifications coming at the top of the external display is nice but having them centered requires a long lasting animation from the top left corner to the top⦠Read more
π‘β¨ Guilty Oct 12
Sometimes, when I use AI, I feel guilty for so many reasons.... I feel less human, less authentic, and like I'm taking shortcuts or cheating. It doesn't feel cool to be a creator trying to be... a creator.
π‘β¨ Blips, now by email Oct 13
Blips now has a newsletter. On the 1st of each month, youβll get one email with everything I posted here the month before: the quick thoughts, the links, and the photos from my βI Was Thereβ trails. Each blip is included in full, with its links, so you can read the whole month in one go without clicking through. The first issue goes out November 1 and covers October. One email a month, nothing in between. To subscribe, use the form in the sidebar or the one under any post. For the curious: itβs built with an n8n workflow that pulls the monthβs posts through the Scribbles API and creates the email in Buttondown. Iβll probably write up the details on meta.numericcitizen.me.

β Links π Mark Gurman is wrong Oct 18
Apple didn't make a mistake by launching the iPhone Duo in 70 countries. Gurman doesn't know about marketing if he thinks Apple should have waited until inventory built up to a satisfactory level before launching the highly anticipated device. Apple is rolling out the device worldwide so more people can see it in action. Those who buy the Duo will talk to friends and family about it, creating even more desire and maybe more demand for it. Trust the process. macrumors.com/2026/10/18/gurman-says-iphone-β¦
β Links π Missing the iPod Oct 24

π‘β¨ iPad Neo Oct 26
There is something wrong with Apple pricing. If the MacBook Neo can be, the iPad Neo can be too.
β Links π On prestructured WYSIWYG Oct 27
I find this concept of prestructured WYSIWYG interesting and a useful way to describe Apple Notes and its apparent lack of flexibility in content formatting. This concept beautifully applies to Craft, too. daringfireball.net/β¦/prestructured_wysiwyg
