The Innovation of 2023: Apple’s Vision Pro
Happy New Year 🎉! This year, we’ve selected Apple’s Vision Pro as 2023’s Innovation of the Year.
Hello, and happy belated new year! Today, we’ll be revealing which creation earns the coveted spot as the official NTS NEWS Innovation of the Year. After scouring books, websites and other research sources, the Apple Vision Pro was awarded the NTS NEWS Best Innovation for 2023.
Apple: sleek, clean and modern. The perfect size, lightweight and with lightning-fast speed. Seamless emailing, messaging, gaming, writing, reading, watching and much more. Just mentioning this word makes you picture one of their flawless products - in other words, Apple produces some of the sleekest products our world has ever seen.
Recently, Apple has been testing and designing new core chips, more effective audio systems and immersive screen systems - through hours of discussion, thinking and testing, Apple developed the concept of a headset that transforms the standard Apple experience. They named it the Vision Pro.
The Vision Pro has a very similar design to other VR headsets, with an adjustable strap designed to fit perfectly around your head and a lens to see the content. Instead of everyone in the outer world not being able to see your expression and eyes, the lens is see-through - you can see the outer world, and people in the outer world can see you. Below, we have an image of what the Vision Pro looks like:
Instead of calling it a headset, Apple describes the Vision Pro as a “spatial computer,” insisting that it differs to a headset as the user is still connected to the world around him. Tim Cook, Apple’s renowned CEO, quoted that the Vision Pro is “the beginning of a new era for computing.” Apple aims for the Vision Pro to allow users to immerse themselves in a world of technology, but instead of separating the physical world and the user, the two will seamlessly integrate.

For the navigation of the Vision Pro, powerful sensors installed in the headset will allow scrolling, tapping and switching between apps with just the swipe of a finger. When you want to search or do anything else that requires typing, just speak. If you want to activate a certain app or close something, just look at it. The technology is beyond revolutionary - just a swift hand movement or the roll of eyes could trigger something to happen, meaning using the Vision Pro is incredibly easy.
The display will show up in the most ideal area of whatever room you’re in, allowing you to control the screen’s height and width. Certain features pop out at you to add dimension to the experience - it may look something like the image below.
Apple’s Vision Pro can also help you relive memories, but much more vividly than the human mind could ever achieve. Portraits will expand in front of your eyes to become the size of the people in the photos, panoramas will wrap around you to recreate whatever scene you were in when you took it, videos will start playing seamlessly - the magic of memories is stored inside the Vision Pro.

The headset also allows you to create memories with advanced photography and videography tools. The Vision Pro is actually Apple’s first 3D camera, which means you can capture moments in 3D, and view them like never before.
For the calling element of the Vision Pro, Apple has devised two pieces of technology that make communicating much easier. The first innovative component of calling others is that it remains with the theme of the Vision Pro (that’s doing things that you can’t really do on anything else) - you can call two people at once, have a ten-person discussion, and whilst doing that you can be looking at another app - whether that’s Safari, Keynote or Pages. Resizing different people’s screens has never been easier - if you want to call someone and have them there as guidance, you can shrink them so that they’re not visible and only view whatever you’re working on is - or vice versa.
The other unique feature the Vision Pro has installed is that it analyzes your face complexion. Everything from the almost unnoticeable marks on your face to the shade of your skin is registered on the Vision Pro’s system - with this data, whenever you’re calling someone, instead of them not being serious as you’re wearing see-through goggles, they’ll see regular you, like you were calling from your iPhone.
The infinite possibilities of the Vision Pro don’t stop there - the next thing we’ll talk about is the state-of-the-art sound system. Instead of different noises blaring in your ears, the Vision Pro automatically scans your surroundings, delivering a sound experience that feels like it’s coming from all angles.
In other words, the Vision Pro’s sound system is like the modern update to surround sound.
Possibly one of the most unique and powerful facets of the headset is the “travel” feature. This element of the Vision Pro allows you to control your surroundings - whilst you could just stay in whatever area you’re actually in, why not do whatever work or entertainment you need to do in your chosen surrounding? Whether it’s the surface of the Moon, a sandy island in the Maldives or a crystalline river, this headset can take you there. The images below showcase some of the surroundings the headset can achieve:
The rich colors that you see displayed are the result of their custom micro-OLED pixel system, giving more pixels than a 4K TV for each eye.
If you already have an Apple device - especially a MacBook - the Vision Pro becomes even easier to use. If your MacBook is on, simply look at it with the Vision Pro - everything on it’s screen will transfer to the headset, appearing in front of you, allowing you to resize screens and open multiple apps at once.
Finally, we’ll talk to you about one more feature of the Vision Pro - the ability to get a prescription lens. For people with vision issues, you can separately purchase ZEISS lenses to insert into the Vision Pro, ensuring glasses don’t ruin the experience.
The Apple Vision Pro is the future of smart technology. It’s sleek. Clean. Modern. Up-to-date. It inspires happiness in its users.
But.
Will the Vision Pro live up to this selection of luxury features? Does the price - set to be at around $3,500 - really match what the Vision Pro can do? Sure, Apple’s said they’ve throughly tested their unique headset, but is their spectating on the Vision Pro’s progress overly positive?
Officials have said that it’s possible Apple will be revealing the Vision Pro later this month, and most are almost certain that sales will begin in February. Is this too soon? Did Apple really design something so advanced in just a couple of years?
