Hello, and welcome to today’s Chess Daily! Today, we’re looking at a middlegame checkmate opportunity - rare, considering usually pieces intercept at this stage - using the classic yet sly smother mate. When the king is surrounded by protective pieces, it also smothers it in an impenetrable wall, which - in some cases - is too thick.
