Technically a Blog: the Gay Agenda License, messing with electronics, silly YAML in Rust, and sketchy ethics
Hello and happy Friday!
This month I have four blog posts for you. My other projects are moving along slowly, so no real updates on that front. I'd love to hear from you if you have comments or questions!
Blog updates
- Licensing can be joyful (and legally dubious): Software licenses are serious business, but they can also be a source of play and fun. I made a custom license for one of my projects, and my mission was accomplished with it. It even has an official site!
- Making Rust complain about YAML config mistakes: If you've ever wondered if you could make it so an unrelated YAML file could make your Rust code fail to compile, you're in luck, here you go. Look, I'm sorry, but I had to do it. Now, on the other hand, a test to do the same thing is lovely.
- Debugging my wife's alarmg clock: My wife's alarm clock started doing weird stuff, so I took it apart to see what was causing the weird stuff to happen! It turned out to be a pretty interesting investigation, after I ignored the multiple warnings not to open it up because electricity is dangerous.
- They want your ethics for $105: I got one of those emails about a "collaboration" which was obviously sketchy, so I did the natural thing and replied to them to find out just how sketchy it is! It turns out, very sketchy, very unethical, possibly illegal, and definitely a bad idea.
Please consider subscribing. I hope you have a great month!
