"This is the best kind of workshop..."
In this issue:
I’m having a 20% off summer sale this week only on one of my most popular workshops, Make It Real!
What does the year look like in your mind?
Get that project going (or over the finish line!)
You read that right: Make It Real is happening again, and it’s on sale! Make It Real is a five-week bootcamp to get the project of your dreams moving (or for exorcising an unfinished one that’s haunting your nightmares). Every week there’s a skill-building session where you learn tools for getting unstuck, and a co-working session where you have time set aside for what you’re working on.
A few examples of things that Make It Real has resulted in:
- the creation of an artists’ residency
- a new documentary film
- a finished book
And here’s what past participants have said about it:
“This is the best kind of workshop— where the lessons apply not only to the project at hand but how I approach creative work in general.”
- Emily Arkin (musician/animator/artist)
“[Lucian’s] ability to explain concepts and tools effectively in a method that speaks well to the participants cannot be overlooked. The lessons they teach can work both in a professional or work environment and for personal projects".”
- Bradford Benn (Leading-edge application and integration engineer for professional audio)
In honor of the end of summer, I am having an unprecedented sale where Make It Real is 20% off until Friday 8/16! Registration closes August 28, class starts Sept 4.
What does the year look like in your mind?
As I sat down to begin workshop planning for the fall, I was thinking to myself that summer is a wild time: I feel like even in so called “normal”, run-of-the-mill summers, I feel like time is sort of compressed. Maybe it’s the Chicago winter looming in the distance, but summer always feels too short (even though fall is my favorite season). I recently saw this Tiktok where a bunch of coworkers all draw what they think a year looks like in their head, with each of them drawing completely different things.
Let me tell you, after asking several people this same question, I am shook at how differently people conceptualize the passage of time! It’s been a really fun question to ask people, honestly— such a fascinating glimpse into how differently we each experience the world. Personally, it made me consider how I would answer, and I realized that to me the year is like a rollercoaster track, which means that at some level, I think of different months as having different heights? Bonkers!
That also means that August is when I feel like the year is about to start accelerating— how can September be right around the corner? It honestly feels somewhat rude to remind everyone by posting a workshop that starts September 4th, but what can I tell you, that’s what’s happening! So to sweeten the deal and help us all smooth the transition a little bit, I’m having a big sale (but only until this Friday, so don’t sleep!).
May you ride the August rollercoaster with glee,
LW
