đ« Annnd we're back
...it's about how many times you get back up.
Hello! I'm Gina Trapani and once a month I round up the 10 best posts from Note to Self in this newsletter. At least, that was the plan. That plan went off the rails several months ago when things went haywire in my world and blogging ground to a halt. So hi. Hello again. If you're still here and reading this: thank you. It's good to be back. Let's get to it.
- I got a 3D printer and I'm in love. It's difficult to explain how satisfying it is to take a digital drawing and turn it into an actual object in your hands, but I gave it my best shot. Here's why I get so much joy from making things with a 3D printer.
- Diddit is a new iPhone app from Chris that helps people get things done together. Itâs a shared log of stuff you need get done every so often. The things youâd ask a partner, âWhen was the last time weâŠ.?â As in: changed the sheets, cleaned the oven, replaced the filter. Useful.
- Speaking of, Chris & I are cooking up something new together. We plan to launch by the end of the year. Visit our website to get a taste of our new brand, designed by the excellent Jonas Leupe.
- A true note to self: Iâd rather spend my time and energy trying to live the most fulfilling life I can than to accumulate a sum of money.
- Therapy is good, but cracking open a fresh new notebook to jot down your thoughts is great. Here are some of my favorite notebooks to fill up and beat up.
- AI CEO generates corporate executive thought leadership at the push of a button. âWeâre not destroying habitats, weâre creating urban opportunities for wildlife.â
- "I think perfectionism is based on the obsessive belief that if you run carefully enough, hitting each stepping-stone just right, you wonât have to die. The truth is that you will die anyway and that a lot of people who arenât even looking at their feet are going to do a whole lot better than you, and have a lot more fun while theyâre doing it." â Anne Lamott in Bird by Bird, one of my favorite books about writing.
- This 13-minute animated short film Forevergreen is delightful food for the soul. The filmmakers released this digital book on the art that made up the film. The porcupines are my favorite.
- For folks who don't use an Apple keyboard but do want Touch ID: Anil made a do-it-yourself fingerprint sensor that can unlock your Mac, called Dashboard Touch.
- Horror is not my film genre of choice, but Jane Schoenbrunâs slasher film Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma is weird, queer, gory, meta, and funny in the best ways. Go see it, with candy.
Happy Virgo season. See you in October.
â Gina
