Things I am Looking Forward To
Stranger Things, Heated Rivalry, Marty Supreme - oh my!
I don’t necessarily believe in New Year’s Resolutions, mostly because you can start anything at anytime. And if you put a date on it - January 1, for example - I feel like it adds more pressure to yourself. You’re suddenly counting down to start something, when you could just be doing it. I don’t know if that’s a popular opinion, but I try to speak my truth.
So instead of waiting until January 1 to tell you what I’m looking forward to, I thought I’d do it now and remind myself that the only way out of the holidays is through.
Marty Supreme Christmas Day: This is Timothée Chalamet’s third Christmas Day movie in three years, and you bet I already have my tickets!! Marty Supreme is as far as I can tell, a sporting/romance movie and I’m already sat. If you haven’t seen the fake marketing meeting for this movie, check it out here.
The 2026 season of Formula 1: There are new regs and new cars and surely more drama to be had. Last season finished with Lando Norris eking out Max Verstappen by 2 points, and I’m curious to see if he can do it again.
My walk and talks: I had my first walk and talk yesterday and it was amazing!! It was so nice to catch up with a friend for 20 or so minutes while I walked. I am not a fast walker, and frankly I haven’t even worked out much because of a bum hip so it feels good to get out there and do something I enjoy (talking to a friend) while I do something I have to do for my health (walking). You can sign up here for a slot if you want.
More Heated Rivalry: I didn’t anticipate this list to be so SPORTS driven, but I surprise myself sometimes. I tweeted (on Threads though? So I don’t know what you call it?) about Quinn Hughes moving to Minnesota and Heated Rivalry and it went semi-viral. So I guess I have to become a real hockey fan now, and not just a fan of the tv hockey show.
Stranger Things Finales: I am a newer fan of Stranger Things (read: this year) and I am so emotionally invested and I FEAR what will happen to those children. Everyone better make it out alive or else The Duffer Brothers will be hearing from me!!!!
Travel, somewhere: I have vague ideas of where I’d like to go this year but nothing has been solidified. I like to travel cheaply and that usually means visiting friends and crashing in a guest room or on a couch.
No more surgeries: I had two last year and barring an act of god hope I do not have to get another one!!! They are really hard to recover from and it’s overall just a lot of stress I don’t really want to deal with. I even signed up for a t’ai chi class to HELP with my stress.
Writing more: And finally, I want to finish a dang draft of my book. I have been writing a book in some form for like… 2.5 years and get halfway through or a third through and crap out. I gotta see this one through!
I hope you have some things to look forward to, and if not - that’s okay too. Holiday times are hard for a lot of people (including myself) and we’re all doing the best we can to get through the day.
