From the Notes App

Not included for your viewing: my known traveler number.

Author note: I have caught a cold. Not terribly unexpected because I was in Nashville for work, then turned around 5 days later for a New York vacation. Therefore, I present to you this minimal effort newsletter.

What do you keep in your Notes App? Do you use the default Notes if you have an iPhone, or do you have another app that you use (for some reason I used the app Bear for quite a while)? I’d like to dive into a notes app (mine) that has seen anything from grocery lists to sad poems and letters to exes and dreams I wanted to remember. For you, enjoy:

Note from 8/5/18:

Food

  • Yogurt is bad

  • Buffalo milk mozzarella is ok

  • Feta milk in small levels is ok

  • Reg mozzarella is bad

Don’t know what that one was about!!! I think maybe I was tracking some inflammatory reaction to dairy? I just eat it all now anyway.

Note from 11/22/18

Family Time Formula

Age/how many people at the gathering = Amount of time in minutes you need to spend talking to each one

Ex. 24/4 = 6 mins to each person

Then go take a nap

I don’t know about you but I didn’t realize genius was sitting in my notes app. You’re welcome for this formula, almost certainly written at a family Thanksgiving encounter. If I updated it to today’s metrics, I’d have to spend about 8 minutes per person.

Note from 5/21/22

Questions

  1. What do you attribute to your longevity?

  2. What is your advice for future generations?

I know exactly what this is from. My friend Meg says she asks these questions on every birthday to her friends and family. I loved that idea so stole it and promptly forgot about it until recently. Friends with birthdays - watch out!

Note from 10/2/25

Book

I don’t know you anymore, but I did.

Damn idk that just feels juicy!! I think it was a line I wanted to use in a book I’m writing. I don’t know if it fits yet, and this might have been for a separate idea entirely. Similarly, I also found a line that was “It gets tiring to love a city that doesn’t love you back.” I wrote that after coming home from New York.

Thanks for reading today, something silly and light to perk up your week. Maybe next time we can go through my email, lol.

<3 Martha
