North Bay Python is going ahead!
Hello Pythonistas!
Saturday, November 2nd is coming up fast, and we wanted to let you know that we are going ahead with North Bay Python 2019!
If you or your friends have been holding off on buying tickets until this week, now’s the time to buy tickets at https://northbaypython.org/attend
Here’s our update on where things are at, and what you can expect at the event.
SMOKE & AIR QUALITY:
Petaluma’s air quality has been variable, with AQI readings in the last day from 0-50 at best, to 100-150 at worst. These changes can happen rapidly as wind shifts, so it's difficult for us to predict how it'll be this weekend.
We'll update you on AQI before every break, and will have a small supply of N95 rated respirator masks for attendees who'd like to use one. If you have your own respirator mask, we encourage you to bring it. We’ll donate whatever stock we have left over to local relief efforts.
Outdoor AQI readings in the 100-150 range are generally safe indoors, but we recommend wearing a respirator mask outside, especially if you have a respiratory condition.
We’ll be bringing along some air purifiers, and setting them up in our backstage rooms. We’ll let anyone who needs time with clearer air come and visit.
TRANSPORT:
Except for the closure of Sonoma County Airport (STS), we understand that transportation into Petaluma is generally unaffected.
If you need to fly into SFO or OAK instead of STS, you can take the Sonoma County Airport Express to Petaluma, or the Marin Airporter to Novato Hamilton, and transfer to Petaluma by taxi.
POWER:
We don't anticipate any public safety power outages during the event.
INTERNET:
Our original plans for internet service at the venue haven’t worked out. We’re working on alternatives, which may or may not materialize.
Mobile data coverage at the venue is quite good on all major networks, and has functioned during power outages around Petaluma.
THANKS:
The team really appreciate the messages of support we’ve received from you all. This week has been stressful and upsetting, but your support has made all the difference. Thank you, and see you on Saturday!
The love in the air is truly stronger than the smoke.
With love,
--The North Bay Python Team
