North Bay Python 2024 is now welcoming your talk proposals
Hello friends, pythonistas, and pythonista friends!
We're finally waking up after a long winter break, and we're ready for your talk proposals for North Bay Python 2024! We're accepting proposals, from right now until the end of Friday April 12th.
This year's conference is being held (again) at the beautiful Reis River Ranch, in the lower reaches of the Petaluma River Valley, on the weekend of June 29th and 30th.
We're looking for talks for people who like Python: they could be about the latest tools and techniques, about Python itself, how Python is developed, or using Python to make the world better for our coworkers and our local communities. In fact, we had talks in all of these areas in our 2023 conference, but don't let that limit you.
If you think more Pythonistas knowing about your favorite topic would make the world a better place, we want to hear from you!
You can submit your talk proposals now at https://pretalx.northbaypython.org/nbpy-2024/cfp and any time until midnight after Friday April 12th. We can't wait to read your ideas!
Some other things you should know:
We've altered our health and safety policy for 2024 based on results of ventilation testing we performed during North Bay Python 2023, at the same venue. Masks are optional in more parts of our venue, including most of the audience space, where ventilation was indistinguishable from outdoor spaces elsewhere on the property. We have committed to accommodations for those who wish to wear a mask during sessions, including for speakers. You can read our full updated policy on our website.
Secondly, we've changed newsletter providers. You've probably already noticed that, but North Bay Python updates will come through Buttondown from now on.
Finally, after 4 years under the stewardship of Software Freedom Conservancy, we're now a project of the Python Software Foundation. The PSF is, like Conservancy, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, but with a specific focus on growing a diverse and international Python community. We share the Foundation's mission, and we're looking forward to working with them. For most attendees, nothing practical will change, but if you want to make a donation, you can now do that through the PSF. Donations are still tax-deductible in the US to the extent permitted by law.
We're grateful for everything that Conservancy has done to help us get off the ground, and look forward to seeing their work on right-to-repair and compliance continuing to bear fruit.
That's all from us for now, we're excited to bring you another year of California's best small-town single track Python conference!
With love,
--Chris and the North Bay Python team
