Reviews and Repositories
Hello! This week brin has been spotted…
Launching a new music journalism newsletter!
That’s right, I’m dipping my toes back into writing more regularly about other people’s music over at That Supreme Alive-ness, a site where I’ll cover (mostly) contemporary classical goings-on in the general Western Massachusetts region. I’ll keep writing about my own artistic endeavors — compositional and liturgical — in this space, which will continue to be as infrequent and irregular as it has been in the past. Essentially, this newsletter that you’re reading now is About Me, whereas That Supreme Alive-ness is about Stuff Happening In Western Mass. I don’t expect to plug the other newsletter much here, so consider this the one big announcement about it if it sounds up your alley.
And on the subject of personal projects:
The Inclusive Siddur Project codebase is now public!
This will be of most interest to the nerdiest of the nerdy amongst you, but since I estimate that’s about 90% of my audience: I’ve started putting all the code for the reworked siddur up in a public repository here! There’s not a ton there yet, but if you want to obsessively track my progress thru recoding this behemoth, now you can do so! I’m a little under 1% of the way there, tho the opening is always the slowest since there’s so much weird unique formatting stuff in it that doesn’t show up anywhere in the rest of the text.
OK, that’s all from me for now! The times continue to be terrible; be excellent to one another and look out for your neighbors; I hope we all have the collective strength to turn the world towards better paths.
