[brinspotting] Rotational Games

Next month, brin will be spotted…

Having a piece performed at the IDRS Conference!

The International Double Reed Society is holding their annual conference this July at Miami University, Ohio. On July 10, at 11:00am, the intrepid Elle Senn will be performing the first movement of my bassoon sonata, Rotational Games. I cannot remember precisely, but I suspect that this is going to be the premiere of the revised version of the first movement after I tidied up the ending a bit. Exciting! I don’t believe there’s going to be a livestream (tho there may be a recording…), so if you’re going to the conference, consider swinging by in person! There may even be a special announcement from the stage……

I will also be spotted:

Presenting on my nonbinary Hebrew work at the Lavender Languages Institute

The California Institute of Integral Studies’ Lavender Languages Institute is an annual summer program dedicated to exploring queer and trans linguistics across multiple languages from various different angles. This year, I’ll be giving a presentation about the Hebrew linguistic work behind my siddur during the social hour on Friday, June 12, at 8:30am PT, over Zoom. This one will be a bit more process-focused than other presentations I’ve given, and will also include some behind-the-scenes looks at some of my recent work tweaking fonts to accommodate some of these new endings. Attendance is limited to LLI participants, but if you want to look at my slides after the fact, just let me know and I’ll happily pass them along!

OK, that’s all from me for now! I hope the weather is lovely wherever you are. As ever, be excellent to one another!

Until next time,
brin
