You don't have to be the best writer
Hi There,
I'm not the best writer. And you don't have to be either.
Reading advice and braggatons on the internet can make you feel like you have to be the best writer to make it. Unless you are perfect, it won't happen.
This is just not true.
You do not have to be the best writer out there.
You have to be a good fit for your clients.
I can confidently say that I'm good at what I do. Science-backed long-form health blogs and ebooks in the functional medicine, holistic health, and nutrition space? I'm your girl.
Now, if you want product descriptions, short-form UX copy, or a landing page, I may not be the best choice. I also haven't won a Pulitzer prize and thus far haven't written a published novel. I have had some short stories published though.
Being a good writer is relative. I'm very good at some things. Good at some other things. Okay at some other things. And pretty bad at certain things. And there are things I've never tried or written, so my skill level or talent is unknown.
I'm good at what I do within my niche. I'm good at what I offer to my clients.
Am I the best though?
I don't actually think you can select one single best content writer or copywriter.
I'm the right fit for my clients. I'm probably the best writer for my clients at this point in time. This may change. But right now, I am. But I am not the right fit for everyone.
What's my point here?
You don't have to be the very best among millions of writers. You can be average. Heck, you can be even below average.
You have to be the best fit for YOUR clients. And I have good news. The internet is flooded with businesses and professionals trying to sell services or products online or create an online presence. You can certainly be the best writer for some of them.
And if you feel unsteady in your skills, don't worry, practice and time will make it better. There is room for newbies.
So stop telling yourself that you need to be perfect to make it. You don't. We are all imperfect. None of us are the best. But you can be the best choice to for some clients. And that's all you need.
I believe in you,
Kat
