The One-Woman Dev Team Diaries #230
There’s Always Something…
The story of my StoryGraph life. 😩
Let me tell you all about the latest edition…hot off the press, coming at you from this morning.
My productivity had been picking up over the last few days after my struggle to get back on it. I had a good, long sleep and woke up refreshed, raring, and ready to go. 💪🏾
I had my plan for the day and had started to crank through my to-do list. Finally, I’m on a roll. Today is gonna be a grea—
Oop, why is Rob calling me at 9am? 👀
“There’s a bot currently spamming people with password resets...”
* sigh *
Just when I get into my stride, there’s always something that comes along and stops me in my tracks! 🥲

Filters and Follows
As part of my increasing productivity, I finally finished off work on the filters for the book reviews and user reviews pages! 🎉

And you can now more easily see what people you follow think:

And, since more users would likely be visiting the People You Follow page with this update, I had to give that page a lil’ makeover too:

Oops, I forgot to record the ‘before’, but it was a lot plainer: no summary of the insights, no read status user pills, lots more boxes, and no full review on the page… This is a lot better. Trust me. 😁
Next up: blocking users, auto-saving/draft reviews, private books, and commenting on reviews. 👀
A Loving Crowd
So, of course, once I start deploying new things, I start making silly mistakes, like preventing everyone from doing progress updates just to fix a Safari-specific visual bug:

I was expecting at least a little bit of frustration, but 100% of the responses I saw were positive. Most of them were really lovely:

And my personal fave:

Learning: Don’t deploy before going into a meeting with Rob. Oh, and if it looks good, doesn’t mean it works good. 😅
What I’m Reading
I’ll be picking up Behind the Beautiful Forevers by Katherine Boo for The Stacks Pod Book Club. I’m a month behind the club but hope to catch up soon.

Have a great week,
Nadia
