Greetings from Mexico, results from my time management experiment, monthly wrap-up template highs and lows, and praise for the our Marketing team! 😁

Hola Desde México!

Some of you may be wondering why this newsletter is hitting your inbox a little late...

I'm in Tulum, Mexico, with my brother and sister, on the second instalment our biennial sibling trip!
Photo of me and my brother and sister outside at night on a street in Tulum.
People often think I'm the youngest instead of the oldest!
We've gotten into a tradition of always trying something new together on the trip. In 2022 in Lanzarote, we all went scuba diving. Yesterday, we all went paddle boarding! Nowhere near as extreme, and it was only a first time activity for me, but a wonderful bonding experience all the same. 😊

Coding from 10am...

...was the new thing I said I was going to experiment with.

And it worked to an extent! I definitely did a lot more coding over the last two weeks than I would have done otherwise, and my life admin mornings felt more focused and productive too.

But, faced with lots of upcoming travel, I had to make many more exceptions than I would have liked, so this is an experiment I'll definitely continue with for a little while longer!

Calendar Template Woes

Abbie and I had a vision...
Screenshot of a page in a lined notebook featuring a sketch of a calendar with coloured lines running across different days, with most of the lines ending in a coloured rectangle.
When I tried to implement that vision, it wasn't looking too cute... 😅
Screenshot of a calendar graphic. It looks similar to the sketch, except the lines are thin, relatively dark and close together. Some of the lines end in book covers. A heading above the graphic reaeds "Abbie's January 2024 Reading Calendar".
Screenshot of a very similar image to the one prior, though these colours are brighter, more evidently sourced from the featured cover images. The heading on this one reads "Nadia's April 2024 Reading Calendar".
Powered by our actual reading data!
Saron to the rescue! 🙌🏾

She played around with what I had to keep the core Gantt Chart-style, while making it look more inviting...
An image similar to the prior two, except, the lines are thicker and now overlap. They have rounded starting edges, and when they finish in a book cover, the book cover has a coloured border the same colour as the line.
I really want this to be ready for the end of July but I'm not sure if that's feasible!

In any case, it should be out early August! 🤞🏾

Summary Template Joy

I did manage to release a new, more easily accessible monthly wrap-up section, complete with a new summary template and the ability for users to view and download the graphics from desktop! 🥳
Screenshot of the top of my June 2024 Stats page. Underneath the heading section is a link reading "View Month Wrap-Up Graphics".
Screenshot of the top of the new Monthly Wrap Up Section. The heading reads "June 2024 Wrap-Up". There is a tab heading structure, and the tabs, from left to right read: Summary, Cover Collage, Ratings Collage. "Summary" is highlighted in green and underneath a grey dividing line is the top of an infographic. Above the infographic is a link reading "Download..."
Once we've got a "Calendar" tab, V1 of this work will be complete!

"A Good Marketing Person"

Screenshot of a few posts on Threads. User @esgunning asks if the book data situation is better on StoryGraph. I reply saying it is and detailing some usage numbers. @esgunning replies with: "That’s fantastic to hear! Also you have a good marketing person for having them respond to threads like this"
I wonder if I can get a raise now! 😆

What I'm reading

I've wanted to read Billion Dollar Whale for years. The prologue reads exactly like my favourite sort of narrative nonfiction. Hope it keeps up!
Screenshot of the book pane for Billion Dollar Whale. To the left is a blue book cover, of money underwater. The title is across the center in white capital letters. In the middle is all of the book information, including the tags: nonfiction, business, economics, true crime, reflective, tense, fast-paced. To the right is my reading information: 5%-filled progress bar, "Started July 27, 2024", 'currently reading', and the book is marked as 'owned'.

Have a great week,

Nadia
