#84 - How often should I write these?

Seeking your feedback on newsletter frequency, and an update on editions, our volunteer librarian programme, and last night's live Instagram show!

Is weekly too frequent?

Every Monday, for the last 84 weeks, I've published one of these newsletters.

I sent the first issue out to 99 contacts back in June of 2019, and since then the list has grown organically to over 4.5k readers!

There's a big part of me that likes the idea of saying "every week for so-and-so years, I wrote my newsletter, never missing a week..." but I need to balance the benefits that do come from such consistency with what's actually needed to maintain a high-quality offering for current and future subscribers.

I have had a handful of people over the last year and a half say they don't need a weekly update (with some unsubscribing precisely because they think they hear from me too frequently) and some weeks I do wonder: What should I write? Is this content worth adding yet another email to each person's inbox?

So, readers, please can you help me out? I'd love your opinion:

Should I, especially now that the product has launched, keep up with these newsletters every single week? Or would another frequency be better?

Let me know via this Google Forms survey (responses will be anonymous!).

And, whether you've read one newsletter or all eighty-four, thank you so much for your time. 🥰

The survey is really short! That's the only required question. 😁

Last week

The momentum from launch is still there! We're growing by thousands of users every day and are almost at 120k. Plus pre-orders continue to sell, albeit a lot more slowly now that our Early Bird sale is over.

Product-wise, we were finally able to give users the ability to browse book editions by ISBN, language, and format, as well as import them via ISBN if the specific edition being searched for isn't already on the site. 😎
Eventually, we'll allow people to sort by publication date too!

And Rob and I went live on our Instagram channel last night for an "Ask Us Anything" session — it was so much fun!
If you have a spare hour, check out the show. You don't need an Instagram account to watch!

This week

Since we've introduced the editions feature, and with that millions of books, the need to get a handle on all of our book data (so that the user experience does not deteriorate) has become more pressing!

I did a call out for more volunteer librarians and had hundreds of people get back to me.

One of my goals this week is working with Abbie to get them all onboarded!
We have a Discord! It's fun! 😁

What I'm reading right now

Wanted something funny to kick off the New Year. I've heard Samantha Irby's books are just that. I'm going to find out!

Have a great week,

Nadia
