I work well with deadlines so, when I have an important one, I like to up the ante by pretending that the real deadline is anything from days to months earlier than it needs to be. (The latter works really well for things like conference talks.)
If it works out, it has the effect of reducing stress when the real date comes along — you're often further ahead than you would have been, or maybe all of the important things are complete and you've got room to add extra polish. 😍
I'm not going to release my secret launch date here, because...well...then it wouldn't be a secret anymore!
But maybe I'll update y'all when the date has come and gone, to let you know how far we got.
Do you ever do this?
Last week
Right now my life is being spent juggling two things: editions and design work.
Working hard to bring y'all something a lot more polished!
Both are fiddly and moving along at a slower pace than I'd like, but we're putting a lot of thinking into them, especially where the user flows with editions are concerned.
We're in an interesting spot with this feature. For some users it's a necessity, and others couldn't care less. A handful actively celebrate the fact that we don't complicate our site with different versions of the same book.
But, if we're going to be one of the main book sites out there, we have to cater to this.
An idea of what's to come!
We're designing a flow where those that don't need this feature can continue as they were, whereas those that are really keen for it won't end up facing a confusing series of steps while tracking their reading!
This week
Just more of the same! Please wish me luck that I have a super productive week. 🤞🏾
And I'm wishing all of you the same. 😊
(Only if that's what you want, of course. 😆)
Something I do need to find the time to rethink is the flow around read dates and rereads. If you've had any issues with this, hit "Reply" and let me know.
