When stats get personal

Last week, a new graph arrived on the block! It displayed a user's books and pages read over time.

What was fascinating was how people were using their new StoryGraph stats to share personal details about their lives.

We learnt about when our fellow readers had gained pets or gone back to work after furlough, when they'd lost jobs or struggled with their mental health over lockdown — all the while tying it back to changes in the number of books they had managed to get through at that time.
My reading over 2020. March was when lockdown started and I realised I work really well with constraints in my calendar. June was when we had that large user spike!

The release of these charts alongside the sharing of stories seems to have had a really positive effect.

I've received messages from people who told me that it had convinced them to finally create an account or pre-order the Plus plan!

Last week

We also released a chart showing which genres you’re reading:
Abbie's genres for 2020 so far!

Right now, I've just stuck to the default colours, so everybody’s chart looks pretty much the same.

That's not so fun given we're all sharing our charts online and with friends. Nor will it be a great user experience comparing stats side-by-side (as users can already do for their all-time reading and To-Read Pile).

But first, I have to figure some things out:
See what people had to say.

This was a lot easier with a list of 14 moods! 😆

This week

I’ve been making a lot of headway on custom lists and tags! 🥳

Searching, filtering, and sorting books you’ve tagged is all done. What's mainly left to sort out are the more fiddly things like the flow of managing tags and making sure all of the privacy controls are set up correctly.
Let’s hope this is out there within the next few days! 🤞🏾

What I'm reading right now

Translated from Hungarian, I'm reading Magda Szabó's 'The Door'.  Just over 100 pages in and it's really gripping!

Have a great week,

Nadia
