We have a paid plan available for pre-order! Find out how it's being received and how figuring out the editions/ISBN thing is our next big project!

The StoryGraph Plus

I sent out the email to a select few, just to test the waters.

And then I waited...

...and refreshed the page a bunch of times...

...before I saw what I was hoping for!

The StoryGraph's first paying customer! 🎉 (SJ — it was you!)

(This is in fact the third time we've had a 'first paying customer'. See issues #15 and #38 for the first and second times. Will there be a fourth time? We hope not! 😅)
That's right — we introduced The StoryGraph Plus paid plan and it's available for pre-order! 🥳

Long-time readers will know that figuring out a business model for The StoryGraph is something that's always on my mind and, given the run-up to launch and increasing costs as our user numbers grow every day, it was the right time for another experiment.

And so far that experiment is going well — we're almost at 300 paying users with a conversion rate of 5.7% (2% is typically considered good)!

Let’s hope that this is the beginning of us being able to survive independently and profitably for many years to come! 🤞🏾

Last week

A lot of time was spent hooking up the ability for the company to take payments.

As you can imagine, it's not the most straightforward of things to do. It's beyond me why I backed myself to roll it out in a day. 😅

I also started doing research around how I was going to implement some other upcoming big features:
The general consensus across our Twitter and Instagram communities was that my plan was a good one. 😌

This week

I’m scared.

The goal is to transition The StoryGraph to work with editions and ISBNs whilst maintaining a streamlined search and browsing experience. 😬
Perhaps something like this will be coming soon! 👀

What I'm reading right now

Started In the Dream House yesterday and so far I'm in love with its structure!
What's a fantastic memoir that you've read recently?

Have a great week (and wish me luck, please),

Nadia
