#66 - Every day? Why?

Announcing our new, highly-personalised, recommendations search engine and discussing the importance of knowing who your most engaged users are!

Who is using TSG every day?

When there’s a never-ending list of things to do to improve your product, it’s very important that you don’t get lost, heads down, just chugging through that list.

“Iterate or die” is a common startup saying and it’s true!

The list of things we’re working on now is based on a mix of the longer-term product vision, improvements we know we need to happen for us to be able to launch, and the general feedback we’ve received over emails and social media.

The last book I read on startups

But who are those people who’ve come across us and now use the product every single day, when we didn’t intentionally design the product to be used that way?

What are they doing on the site when they come on? What would they do if The StoryGraph disappeared tomorrow?

I’ll be speaking to these people over the coming weeks, and, who knows, depending on what they say, The StoryGraph might become something else completely. 😂

Stay tuned! 😁

Psst. If you use the site or app every day and are open to a 20-min video call with me, hit "Reply" to let me know!

Last week

We (well, we think we did, but y’all need to let us know 😏) levelled up our recommendations page!

We already know your base preferences, and now, at any given moment, you can tell us what you’re in the mood for reading next and we’ll give you updated recommendations instantly:

🤩

And, don’t worry, you can still search through tens of thousands of books and have the search results ordered just for you:

This week

I’ll be designing what it might look like if a user can attach content warning tags to their reviews and how we then surface that information to any interested user who is deciding whether they want to read the book or not:

Imagine a "would you like to attach any content warnings?" section

What I'm reading right now

I'm excited to discover the magic of Becky Chambers's Wayfarers universe!

Have you already done so?

Have a great week,

Nadia
