#62 - PMF? Not yet!

How we know we haven't yet reached product/market fit and how the site seems to be struggling a little with all the new books! 😅

Product/market fit?

Long-time readers of this newsletter will know that a recurring theme is product/market fit (see #12, #30, #41 for a little sampling).

Finding that sweet spot of a product which perfectly fits the needs of your market is the foundation upon which successful startups are built.

We don't have it yet.

How do I know?

This chart:

Remember a few weeks back when we had the wild spike? 😅

When you have product/market fit, your active users keep going up over time because the product is resonating incredibly well with nearly everyone who crosses paths with it.

The fact that daily and weekly usage has tapered off could be down to many things including mismatched expectations or the product being exposed to the wrong audience.

This is not a problem. We're likely to keeping seeing this up and down trajectory until it's only up and up! By which point, a lot of those people who joined us in June, and haven't used the product since, will likely come back. 😌

In the meantime, the fact that we're plateauing at a level that is 9-10x higher than we were pre-spike is brilliant validation. 😎

Last week

We gave the mobile view of our new homepage a little makeover after complaints arose of too much scrolling:

Now you only need to scroll past max 3 books, as opposed to 9. 😁

In a book store or, more likely given the current state of the world, shopping for books online?

Now we've made it easier for you to decide what to buy when looking through your To-Read Pile:

Only show me books I don't already own, please!

This week

Since we increased the number of books on the filter menu by over 40x (we now have over 200k books on there!), I've noticed that the Browse Books page and filtering has started loading more slowly... 😔

Fear not! I'm on it! 💪🏾

What I'm reading right now

I enjoyed the quirkiness of Convenience Store Woman and, 20 pages in, I can already tell that this one is even more so! 👀

What's the strangest book you've ever read? The way this is going, Earthlings might be a contender for me. 😆

Have a great week,

Nadia
