                Is it time to start engaging with discussions about there being no great Goodreads alternative? Also — "Ordered for you" is now available for all! 🎉

To share or not to share...

50 weeks ago, we didn't have a product! 

Since I started building the beta, people send me links such as these at least once every few weeks:

As much as it pains me to, I've opted to ignore engaging with this content. The product isn't mature enough and I don't want its identity to amount to nothing more than "the Goodreads alternative".

We've done very well so far by focusing on what our customers want and need and iterating on the product based solely on that.

But the more and more I see of threads like these...

Note the level of engagement via likes and comments...!

...it makes me wonder if time is of the essence and we need to start engaging with these conversations and putting The StoryGraph out there.

After all, a lot of startup literature states that timing is an incredibly important success factor.

What do y'all think? 🤔

On the Find A Book page, either across all of the books on the site, or on any specific filter searches that you do, you will be able to order the books based on what The StoryGraph thinks you might enjoy the most.

This week

As we move towards sharing The StoryGraph more widely, Rob and I will be focusing on cutting down the "time to 'wow'" for any new user.

We suspect that making the Goodreads import self-service and automating the part that happens after the "Ordered for you" survey is filled out will get us far.

Let's find out. 🤓

Will be starting Fahrenheit 451 this week!

I'll be able to check off another prompt on The StoryGraph's Onboarding 2020 Reading Challenge: Read one of your 5 oldest To-Read books!
