#48 - Please, Tell Us!

On the necessity of us hearing all feedback and pain points from our users, the release of monthly stats, and fine-tuning "Ordered for you"

"I didn't want to be annoying!"

"Isn't it too complicated?"

"Is it even possible?"

When Rob and I hear these statements, we embody this emoji: 😔

Not only are we sad that our customers ever thought they could annoy us by sharing their pain points or that they filtered themselves by assuming difficulty, we lament at all the feedback out there that we're not hearing because of similar concerns.

The (kinda) funny thing is that a lot of the stuff brought up falls into two categories:

1. It's already in our "list of things to sort out" and hearing the feedback helps us to reprioritise what we work on

2. It didn't cross our minds, it's not difficult to do, and it's an obvious improvement to the site — quick wins for all involved.

And for the things that truly are tricky to solve...

Let me find a short book suited to me that fits my reading challenges...

Rob and I have been surprising ourselves with what we’ve been able to achieve with this product so far. Take "Ordered for you". We didn't think we'd have a compelling version so soon!

We’re still trying to build an easy-to-use and understand product that does a few things really well, so we're not going to work on everything brought to our attention, but we need to hear everything on your mind regarding The StoryGraph!

So, please, tell us! Give us a chance to build your dream product! 🤗
Last week

Never have we released a feature to such excitement before as when we unveiled monthly stats last week!

The announcement saw us gain 65 new users (a 17% increase), with a bunch of old users returning to the site. 😍

We also made it easier for you track which books you've read each month:

Better get reading... 🤓

This week

On our "Ordered for you" survey we ask users to select characteristics they most appreciate in books as well as to list their favourite topics, themes, and tropes.

Rob is focusing on fine-tuning the current results, leaning on the answers to those questions.

We hope that it'll bring back a bit more of the variety that some users miss from earlier versions while also improving our ability to surface to the top the particular types of books people are drawn to within their favourite genres.
What I'm reading right now

I've dived back into this glorious universe:

What are some of your favourite fantasy series?

Have a great week,

Nadia
