All the way back in issue #2, one of our main hypotheses was revealed within the first subheading: Everyone's a mood reader.
Even those who say they aren't one probably push through books they're not getting on with; books they may likely have enjoyed at another point in their lives.
A regular user, a self-professed non-mood reader, sent this to me the other day:
You always had it in you. 😏
It got me wondering about all of you!
Who's finding solace in books during this time?
Are you feeling like reading what you normally do or are you gravitating towards something different?
Last week
There were 8 customer interviews with the Editors and it was our most promising round yet! 🥳
Can any of the Editors identify which colour they are? 😁
Not only did the round give me increased confidence that we're on the right track — everyone uses The StoryGraph to pick their next book and all but one would be "very disappointed" if The StoryGraph went away — the interviews revealed an obvious next focus, with over 60% stating in some way that:
My dream is for The StoryGraph, and its recommendations, to be more personalised to me.
This week
Personalisation? Right! We're on it! 😎
What does V1 of Personalisation look like? That's what I'm going to sketch out this week and then get started on delivering.
Will report back with a mini roadmap next week. 😁
What I'm reading right now
Next up in my Harry Potter reread — I'm so excited!
Have you read Harry Potter before? Which is your favourite in the series?
Have a great week,
Nadia
P.S. If you know a friend who's an avid mood reader or would enjoy following along with this journey, please do forward this email to them! Thank you. :-)
