#33 - On The Right Track

Results from the December 1:1 check-ins with the paying users and figuring out priorities in the face of good feedback.

On the right track?

These are the findings from the December 1:1 check-ins with 12 of the Editors (paying beta testers):

When I first finished the analysis, it left me a little anxious.

The product still has a long way to go. Shouldn't there be more complaints? More directional feedback?

Then I thought:

The value people are getting out of the product matches what the product is trying to be. It more or less works for the early adopters.

That's great!

Now we need to focus on making it excellent so that outside of a hands-on paid beta testing programme, it still works.

And also that there's an element that people want to pay for. 😅
Last week

Product updates were few and far in between given a big ongoing chunk of work: changing how we store title and book series information in the database. This will improve the user experience (fewer duplicates, more uniform design) and the lives of our Librarians. 😇

One interesting side effect of the ability to like items on the News Feed was that it generated requests for new types of updates to be shown there.

Now you can see when someone in the community finishes reading a book or does not finish a book!

Erica, why didn't The Nix work out for ya?

In only one week, over 1000 books have been marked as owned in the database! 🤩

Before you raise your eyebrows, I've only marked 7 books. 😏
This week

We have the first group call of the new Editor programme.

I'm going to use the results of that to help set priorities for this week.

One minute I think Community features are the most important, and the next it feels like it's reading challenges, which have been very popular, especially amongst non-Editors.

Lots of ways to diversify your reading this year.
What I'm reading right now

I've been slowly working through The Patrick Melrose Novels with a friend.

It's time for book 3!

Have you read these ones? What did you think?

Have a great week,

Nadia

P.S. If you know a friend who's an avid mood reader or would enjoy following along with this journey, please do forward this email to them! Thank you. :-)
