The Brain is live

Many exciting things happened at The StoryGraph HQ last week, but the most exciting of all is that adding a book to the site is now fully automated, so signed-in users can find any book they're looking for. 😍



When I wrote about needing an automated approach seven weeks ago, never in my wildest dreams did I think we'd have a solution so soon!

Hang on! Who is F? And why the secrecy?
 

Everybody, say hello the wonderful Rob Frelow:

He's basically a genius and all-round amazing guy!

Rob and I have been friends for years. He is also the husband of one of my closest friends. I was due to be working with her on a different project this year. 

Funny how things work out.

When Rob got in touch about The StoryGraph, we didn't know if anything would come of it. But everything has progressed really quickly and this week seemed the most fitting to make the intro. 😊

Check them out and sign up to one if you want 2020 to be the year of discovering new reads. 🤓
 

We also had a super fun Editor call — the last of the first paid trial.

Looks like at least 70% of the original cohort want to keep paying into the New Year. 🤩

This week

Items 1 and 3 are complete on the end-of-year goal list. Item 2, while important, is no longer the highest priority.

By the end of this week, users should be able to send us an export of their Goodreads library and we'll fully onboard them onto the site.
 

Imagine having all of your stats from the get-go!
 

The StoryGraph's current secret sauce is book discovery and personal recommendations. The more users and books on the site, the better those get. So, we'll also be making everything free this week to encourage more activity.

The only thing you will pay for will be personal recommendations, and you'll be able to get those on-demand eventually.
