                In which I talk about how the beta site has started to take longer to load. It's something I want to address ASAP. I also share V1 of the news feed.

Getting a little slow...

When I started my research back in January, something that kept coming up was how slow and clunky Goodreads was. 

I wanted to be different.

And initially, everything on the site was sharp and snappy, but over the last couple of weeks even I have been frustrated with some of the loading times.

Whilst I could ignore it for now, this is one area that I really don't want to fall down on.

So I'm going to nip it in the bud early.

Last week

The group of StoryGraph Editors—paying subscribers—has grown from 8 to 13! I had 10 customer calls last week to show for it. 🤓

Regarding the news feed, version 1 is live!

The Concierge Beta users and Editors got an early preview and have been sending me feedback for version 2.

Abbie finished off the work she was hired to do and I am able to confirm that she was 100% the right person for the job. 😍

This week

Three main things I want to focus on:

Performance — The site needs to start loading faster.

Design — I want to do a mini redesign so that it's easier to get to key pages, including the news feed and sign up/log in.

Librarians — I already have about 10 people lined up who want to help enhance and improve The StoryGraph's database. The ball is in my court to figure out how this will work best.

What I'm reading right now 

I don't normally read two fiction books at the same time, but I was craving some light relief from Catch-22:

I also don't normally read Romance books, but Bookstagram has been opening my eyes and my mind. 😊
