Super Soft Launch

"What's a 'super soft launch'?", I hear you ask...

Well...it's where it's approaching the early hours of the morning, and you do want to get some sleep, but the people are waiting and you want to get something out for them...so you adapt the task list on the fly, such that the feature is fully functional bar a few final special touches, and then you announce it to several hundred people via the relevant roadmap post and in the middle of an Instagram Story such that only those who watched a decent amount of it would know of the announcement... 🤭
Screenshot of my notifications page on StoryGraph. The notifications visible are as follows: one letting me know the next TSG Team Club meeting is tomorrow, one letting me know Abbie has created a book poll in her Short Story Book Club with a link inviting me to cast my vote, the news that there's a winner for my TSG Team Club date poll for an upcoming meeting, and a notification that Rob has replied to a comment of mine in the TSG Team Club forum.
How my notifications page looks these days...

Then you go and get a few hours of sleep — I know, I know, I get a full night most nights, don't y'all worry — and wake up to find that 50 book clubs have already been created, with some people scheduling meetings up to a couple months out. 🥹

Since last time...

Book Clubs had a super soft launch! 😆

I shared some teasers last issue, so let me share some different screens this time:
Screenshot showing a book club meeting page. At the top is a date "April 8 2024, 10.30pm". Underneath is a completed poll showing one date has 66% of the vote, with two-thirds of the background of the pane covered in green. Another option has 33% of the vote. The final option has 0% of the votes. Underneath is a similar view for a completed book poll.
Completed date and book selection polls

Top of a buddy read page. Underneath the book title reads "Hosted by TSG Team Club for Meeting #1".
The book club buddy read add-on

A table with the heading "Leaderboard". There are three colums: Rank, Book, and Average Rating. The first row of data reads: 1, The Night Circus, 4.54. There are two further similar rows, listing different books, with the average rating going down.
See your book club's top 100 reads! 🤩

Next two weeks

Well...the official launch of book clubs hopefully! There are a couple extra special touches we'll be adding: A Book Club Question Bank and book club reads suggested by StoryGraph based on the books the group typically chooses!
Screenshot of the in-development Question Bank page. There is a yellow "Beta" badget and then the text: Book Club Question Bank, a book title and author, and then: No questions have been submitted for this book yet. Coming soon: Add Question.

What I'm reading

Journeying back to Ken Follett's fictional setting of Kingsbridge with World Without End. This book is HUGE so I really want to finish it before I fly to the States in a month for a conference as I don't want to lug it there or have to pause for a week. 😅
Book pane for Ken Follett's World Without End. On the left is the book cover. It's got a brown background, like an old stone wall, with the author's name in black up top, and the book title in red below. In the middle is the book information: title and series information, author name, 1248 pages, first published 2007, and the tags: fiction, historical, adventurous, emotional, medium-paced, and my custom tags: april-tbr, soraia-buddy-read. On the right is my reading information: 1% filled progress bar, "Started April 5th 2024", "currently reading", and "owned" status button.

Have a great week,

Nadia
