#161 - T Minus Two Weeks

Reflections on there being two weeks left to do "everything", another user sign-up milestone, mini feature updates, and my 1000+ page current read. 😅

T Minus Two Weeks...

...and they better be the most productive two weeks of the year. 😅

Wish me luck!  🍀

Since last time...

First, we reached our next user sign-up milestone! 🙌🏾
Over two-million people have created an account. 🤩
Now, let's review the product changes since the last issue based on the three focal points I mentioned:

1. Book Clubs

I have made progress, but not as much as I wanted to by this time. I decided to focus on some other "smaller" features to clear the path for this being the Week of Book Clubs!
Screenshot of the "New Book Club" form page. The fields are: Name (text field), Add a club lobo/image (file attachment), Description (text area), and Code of Conduct (text area).
Admins can create book clubs now though. Lucky us. 😆

2. Barcode Scanner

One of the reasons for slow progress on Book Clubs is that I got stuck on the Barcode Scanner. Mainly, Android phones are not playing ball at all! And there are also some minor niggles on iOS, but I do have a working scanner on my phone, tested in a bookstore and all. 😌
Screenshot of the The StoryGraph app. In the main search bar at the top, there's a small barcode scanner icon to the right. There's a camera view taking up the main body of the page and I've held up the back of a book, with its barcode, right up to the camera.

3. Giveaways: In-app digital and audio prize delivery

This is now live! 🎉
Screnshot of the prize section of a giveaway on StoryGraph. For the "Delivery" section of this digital prize: "In-app download (EPUB file)".
I'm really looking forward to feedback from both the hosts and winners, which will start as early as tomorrow!

We also launched the beta of our AI-powered Preview feature to everyone and the response has been brilliant overall! 😍

Next two weeks

Well, finishing EVERYTHING of course. 😅

I look forward to updating y'all on January 1st!

What I'm reading

I'm rereading Saga #1-54 via the first compendium. I mean, I did need to in order to pick up the newer volumes but maybe me being a couple thousand pages behind on my Pages Goal had something to do with the timing here. 👀
StoryGraph book pane for Saga: Compendium One. To the left is the book cover, showing the word "Saga" written against a space/starry sky background. Superimposed is a white hand with one finger extended, signalling "one". In the middle is the book information: Saga #01-54, produced by Fiona Staples and Brian K. Vaughn, 1328 pages, first published 2019, tagged: fiction, comics, fantasy, science fiction, adventurous, fast-paced, and a custom tag: dec-tbr. On the right is my reading information: a 35% filled progress bar, "Started Dec 4, 2023", "currently reading" status bar, a "mark as finished" button, and an "owned" label.

Have a great rest of the year and see you in 2024,

Nadia
