Is 30 days too long?

We've always been proud of our Plus free trial offering: 30 days, no payment details required, no strings attached.

You've got a lot of time to explore and zero risk of accidentally being charged for something you don't want.

However, during my customer research, something I've heard numerous times is: "Well, I knew I had a lot of time to explore the Plus features...but then I just forgot to...and my trail was over. Since I'd survived without the features, I figured I didn't need Plus..."

While we're aware of ways that we can improve Plus, and are currently working on those, I do wonder if we'd do better with a 7- or 14-day trial, if only to incentivise users to get the most out of it as soon as possible.

Then, hopefully the features will be able to speak for themselves!

Right now, one in five people who do a Plus trial end up converting, which is great, but perhaps that proportion could be higher with just this small change. 🤔

Since last time...

The streak feature is almost ready, which is good, because we've been telling everyone that it'll be launching in February.  While on a recent StoryGraph Librarian catch-up call, the moment when I remembered that February did not have at least 30 days, like the other months, was a rather funny one. 😅

Next two weeks

My product focus will be on giveaways — starting to automate the onboarding process for authors and publishers — and stats — adding in new functionality for Plus users!

I'm really enjoying both of my current reads: Masters of Doom has been on my to-read list for years and I'm reading A Spell of Good Things in preparation for an upcoming event!
