An ambitious quarter...

...has been planned!

What are some of the things we're hoping to get done?
  • A mini redesign of the app, including Dark Mode 👀
  • The next iteration of the stats dashboard for all users, including transitioning the Plus plan to being more of an Advanced Stats package
  • A resolution to all of our main UX/UI issues
Screenshot from my 2021 Wrap-Up. The text shown reads: "The average length of the books you read was 323 pages and it took you around 11 days to finish each book!". The last part of the sentence is underlined in dark green.
You'll be able to see the average time it takes you to finish a book in any selected time period in our next stats update!

Somehow...

...it's already October 10th! Eek! Where did the time go? 😅

But we're still feeling confident and fired up over at StoryGraph HQ. 💪🏾

Since last time...

Rob and I have made great progress on the upcoming additions to the reading preferences survey:

Screenshot of the upcoming changes to the reading preferences survey. There are two new fields shown. The first is labelled: "Select any types of content that you never want to read about". There are three selected tags: "Ableism", "Addition" and "Bullying". The second field is labelled "List any topics, themes, or tropes that you don't like to read about". The field has been filled in with the text: wizards, witches, dragons, romantic relationships.
We hope to beta launch this real soon! Stay tuned!

One of the reasons the beginning of October has flown by is because of the conference talk I've been preparing for!

I've been in California this week (hence the "lateness" of this newsletter. Timezones!) and was the opening speaker for a tech business conference in Hollywood, LA! 🤩
Screenshot of one of my slides from my talk. It shows a graph with Time on the x-axis and No. of users on the y-axis. It shows a line that goes along at 0 users for a while, before hitting 1 on July 30 2019, and then going up to 100 on Jan 1 2020.
From 0, to 1, to our first 100 users!
It was awesome piecing together StoryGraph's story for this event!

Benefit of being in America? In-person co-working with Rob! 😍

Next two weeks

The first set of giveaways will be coming to an end so we'll have to implement how the prize draw will work before then! 🏆

What I'm reading

I've not had much time to read, but when I can I've got a fun, light book on the go, with Kevin Kwan's Rich People Problems.
Screenshot of book pane for Kevin Kwan's Rich People Problems. The cover is on the left and features a woman in red shades and a yellow high-neck top. On the right is all of the book information. It's listed as the third in the Crazy Rich Asians series, it is tagged with fiction, contemporary, romance, funny, lighthearted, medium-paced. There is a progress bar, filled up 35%, and it is marked as "Owned" and "currently reading", with a custom tag of mine: "sep-tbr".

Have a great week,

Nadia
