What's left for 2022?

You might be thinking that the end of 2022 is so far away. After all, we only just passed the halfway point...

But when you consider the fact that we need to be ready with our 2022 Wrap-Up and our 2023 January Pages challenge on the first day of the New Year, alongside all of the other things we plan to do, we really don't have a lot of time left! 👀
Line chart showing pages read per day in January 2022. The green line hovers just above the 75 pages line, with a handful of mini peaks.

Some of the things on our radar include the next iteration of our stats dashboard, book clubs, and our long-, eagerly-awaited dark mode!

Let's see how much we get done. I'm feeling optimistic. 😁

Since last time...

The search results dropdown is finally live! 🥳

Screenshot of top right of my StoryGraph homepage on desktop. I have typed "vani" into the search bar and there is a panel of 5 books underneath: The Vanishing Half, The Vanishing Stair, Vanity Fair, and two more. Each book title has a mini book cover thumbnail on the left.

We also made a few tweaks to how our books are being indexed in order to improve the top hits.

Outside of the product, Abbie and I have been working on the tools and resources for our volunteers. Now StoryGraph Librarians have access to a tool that can consolidate different author records, and anybody who applies from today has a new and improved onboarding document to read through! 😊

Next two weeks

I mentioned working on adding books to reading challenges a month ago, and I did gather some feedback at the time, but that body of work got pushed back! It's time to take another look at it.

We'll also start developing an easier way to have people join your StoryGraph buddy reads. Any guesses as to what we're planning?
Screenshot of the top of my "Buddy Reads" page. There are two sections: "Current buddy reads" and "Past buddy reads". In the current section, is "The Deep". The book cover is to the left, and to the right is written: "The Deep; Ends: Sunday 31 July 2022; View buddy read". There are 1.5 buddy reads shown in the second section: The Nightingale and Piranesi.

On the topic of buddy reads, Rob has been working on an update to take the suggestions of users who might like to read with you to the next level. 😌

What I'm reading

Just finished reading The Deep as part of these buddy reads Rob is hosting via TikTok!
Screenshot of the book pane for The Deep on StoryGraph. To the left is the book cover. It's light blue (underwater) with white text, feature an image of a mer-person with a large shark blurred out in the background. To the right is the book information. There is an "Add review" link above the title. The book has the following tags: fiction, fantasy, lgbtqia+, challenging, dark, emotional, and medium-paced. It was has 166 pages and was first published in 2019. It's marked as 'read' on the dropdown.

Have a great week,

Nadia
