Stats V3

Every time we analyse the feedback from a round of customer interviews, we're always reminded of just how much our users love our stats.

And there's so much more that we plan to bring to that section.

Maybe it's time to start planning Version 3 of the stats dashboard... 🤔

Scatter chart with 361 purple points plotting date read of each book and its original publication year. Original publication year is on the Y-axis and read date is on the X-axis.
This chart appears at the bottom of the All-Time Stats view!

I've got a question for you today: If you could click your fingers and immediately see one new chart in the app or get one enhancement to any of the current charts, what would you wish for?

Hit "Reply" to let me know. And please be sure to only include one thing.

I typically respond to everything but this time I'll be ignoring any responses that include more than one item. 😌

Since last time...

Buddy reads can now support nine people! 🎉
Screenshot of the top of a buddy read page from The StoryGraph app. The book cover is top left and to the right are details about the buddy read: the book's title (Wolf Hall), the host information ("Hosted by nadia") and the end date: "Ends Monday, 23 May 2022"). There are then four horizontal panes stacked on top of one another. Each features the profile picture and name of a participant, and a progress bar showing how far into the book the reader is. The first user is 87% through, the second 100%, the third 64%, and the final reader 100%. There is a fifth pane that is cut off, before the screenshot ends in the bottom menu bar from the app.
Imagine there are five more panes under these four. 😆

Our "Not A Book" concept went live meaning that our users are free to continue tracking all forms of their reading, the average user is very unlikely to come across these records in the app unless looking for them specifically, and authors of reading material like fanfiction feel comfortable having their work listed in the product! 🙌🏾

Screenshot of a StoryGraph placeholder book cover. Underneath the cover is text that reads "My Fave FF" (a title) and "Nads Nads" (the author). There are two labels under the title and author. One is green and reads "Not a book" and the other is white and reads "User-added".
A fake record from my test site. 😅

Next two weeks

The main focus will be implementing all of the audiobook tracking and stats improvements!

Screenshot of the books and pages line chart from StoryGraph, which features a blue line representing books read each year and a red line representing pages read each year. In this mock-up, there's a new, third green line labelled "Minutes listened to" which snakes amongst the other two lines
A super quick mock-up (so don't pay attention to details...!) of how one of the charts may look for any audiobook listeners who choose to have their progress tracked in duration!

What I'm reading

Almost done with the latest book in my Stephen King chronological read!
Screenshot of the book pane for The Dead Zone by Stephen King on The StoryGraph. On the left is the book cover. It's blue and features a person's head pulled back in seeming agony. To the right is the book pane. It features the books tags: fiction, horror, speculative fiction, thriller, dark, tense, slow-paced; page and publication information: 416 pages, first published in 1979. There's a green progress bar that's 90% filled out. It's marked as 'currently reading' and there's a tag at the bottom of the pane labelled 'may-tbr'.
Also, I finally published my annual reading review blog post for 2021!
Have a great week,

Nadia
