🎆 Athena Crisis: Full Campaign + Steam Deck Verified
Hello there!
We shipped tons of new content and features in the past month! The full release of Athena Crisis goes live on September 23rd. Early reviews are coming in too:
“It is a great game whose quality far exceeds the ‘Steam Early Access’ title that it has. If someone handed me Athena Crisis as it is today, I would be inclined to believe it is a finished product that I am playing.”
Check out Athena Crisis on Steam. If you already own it, please leave a review. If you haven’t bought it yet, please wishlist it as it’ll help during release.
Here is what’s new:
The Athena Crisis Campaign – Beta
Athena Crisis initially came with the Prequel Campaign, featuring 7 (now 10) maps. This week we shipped the beta of the main Athena Crisis single-player campaign. It comes with 34 unique maps, featuring tons of unlocks, new biomes, special units like Aliens or Bazooka Bears, and a light-hearted and fun story. If you haven’t played in a while, that’s enough content to keep you busy for a weekend – or even a week.

Achievements
Official campaign maps now have challenges across three dimensions:
Pace: How fast you can beat a map.
Power: The ratio between defeated and lost units.
Style: A customizable goal around how many units you lost, how many one-shots you had or how many buildings you captured.
Your performance is evaluated at the end of the map. Upon success, you receive stars – a finite resource that will be valuable in the future!

New Skills & New Units
There are now 30 unique skills in the game! Many of them completely change how the game plays – and with additional skill slot unlocks you can combine them to unleash even more mayhem! Next to new skills we also shipped new units and status effects. Aliens and Acid Bombers can poison their opponents, which will wear them down over time if not healed.

Steam Deck Verified
It was exhausting to go through the Steam Deck verification process for two months, fixing everything that Valve flagged at each review, but it has felt incredibly rewarding to see a game I built from scratch verified on an actual game console. That’s just so cool, and it’s so fun to play Athena Crisis on the Steam Deck:

What's Next?
I’m going to take a month off and travel to Austria (I need it). After that we’ll ship a Twitch extension for Athena Crisis, put some more finishing touches on the game, and ship it on September 23rd. However, there are still tons of ideas to make the game even better – and we’ll keep moving as fast after the release as we are moving now. It’s exciting!
