🎆 Athena Crisis February Updates
Hello there!
Play Athena Crisis Instantly!
A map from Athena Crisis is now fully playable instantly on athenacrisis.com, including Gamepad support. If you enjoy the game and wish to support its development, please consider buying Athena Crisis.
I've wanted to replace the video of the game with an actual playable version since publishing the landing page and embedding Athena Crisis directly in a presentation. Integrating actual game elements, such as unit and skill info dialogs, into the website has been awesome.
The landing page was trending on HackerNews and other places, leading to 45,000+ people seeing Athena Crisis for the first time. Exciting!
Steam Early Access & Steam Keys
The next time you hear from me is when Athena Crisis is going live on Steam Early Access, which is also the start of our marketing campaign and when the first trailer drops! Please wishlist the game if you'd like to be notified by Steam.
We have a limited number of Steam keys available. If you'd like to give a fair review of Athena Crisis in Early Access this month and receive a Steam key, please reply with your Steam ID, Steam username and your Athena Crisis username.
Skills, Rewards & Powers
We've expanded the skill system with tons of new features and new skills. Some skills now come with a power that can be activated for one turn. Playing campaigns can unlock various powers for use in PvP, and you can temporarily buy skills from Research Labs during a game.
Skills and Powers can fundamentally change gameplay dynamics. Some skills affect all units, but some are focused on just one specific unit type. We'll be adding more skills – and in the future you'll be able to unlock additional skill slots to mix up play styles even more.
Campaigns
Community-created campaigns are now easily discoverable and surfaced across the game. Check out and play Volcanic Offense! We keep expanding the campaign editor and campaign related features as we are building out the primary single player campaign.
Competition: Build a Scenario Map
We've enjoyed playing many of the maps that were created by the community so far. We are looking to make the official single-player campaign fun and memorable, so now is your chance to create a special single-player scenario. We'll pick the top maps for inclusion in the single-player campaign.
To enter, create a map tagged "campaign" and "competition", and submit its name/link via email reply or on Discord.
Participants will receive two Steam keys and official merchandise later this year.
More Updates
We settled on the official faction names: Pink Atlas, Orange Helios, Blue Chronos, Purple Horizon, Green Gaia, Red Ares and Cyan Iris – but you can customize your faction name! Who and what will you fight for?
We've made lots of balancing changes and continued polishing almost every aspect of the game to make it a fun experience. The full list of changes can be found on our Discord server.
Finally, you'll be able to play a demo at the Null Games booth at PAX East – or play directly at athenacrisis.com 🎇
Thank you for subscribing, and have a great day!
