I’m Building a macOS App
Hello!
Breaking tradition (is twice a tradition?), this time I have no blog post to shill promote.
No, this time I’m shilling promoting a company! Or maybe a single app. Actually, it’s still a work in progress, but hear me out!
I’ve been building Unread Tally, a macOS email notifier, and plan on launching it as a paid app. I’ll be branding it under the Binary Widgets company umbrella, and there’s a whole website and another newsletter you can—and should—subscribe to for relevant announcements, such as launch date, pricing, beta access, other products and services, etc.
Since a picture is worth a thousand words, here’s a sketch of the interface:
The idea is that you set up some email accounts, and the app periodically checks them for unread emails. The count is displayed in the Status Bar, and the dropdown offers one-click access to browser tabs with said accounts as well as app preferences. As someone who usually prefers webmail, this is my solution to the ubiquitous badge usually supported by desktop email clients. Anecdata tells me I’m not alone.
Your three easy action items:
- Sign up for the aforementioned newsletter.
- Post about the website, newsletter, and app on social media of your choice.
- Take a deep breath, relax your shoulders, and clean your glasses, if applicable.
Thanks for reading!
