If you are reading this in the morning on the day it was published, then congratulations! You can still make it to Cheerie Emporium!

This is The Spooky Haus’ second time organizing our own market. It’s right next door from the last one, at Gilman Brewing. Join us for a day of supporting local queer artists! I’ll be there with prints, cards, bookmarks, and zines.

Over the last month, I have been working hard on a new mural project. It’s a parklet mural for House of Tadu Ethiopian Kitchen in Mission Bay. It has been delightful working with Nani, because everyone at the restaurant is so kind and full of hospitality. Plus I’ve been getting to enjoy their amazing food.

The mural, as requested by Nani, depicts the Adey-Abeba flower, which is native to Ethiopia and used to celebrate the new year. The bright yellow is so cheerful and is bringing joy and color to 4th street. It’s still in progress, but coming along beautifully thanks to help from Mila Kirillova, Ellen Lo, and Phoebe Bernhardt.

The other big project that has kept me busy over the last few months is actually quite tiny. I am delighted to be able to share my latest tiny house model commission with you.

This is hands down the most detailed and labor intensive tiny house I have ever made. I keep wanting to say it's the biggest tiny house ever. I mustered all the skill and lessons from all the models I've previously built and put it all into this. My tiny houses are entirely handmade using various paper and wood materials. Even the siding is cut by hand. It took far longer than planned, but it was worth it.

Even before meeting the owners and starting this project, I admired this home and its beautiful restoration job.

Despite being busy with these projects, when I heard that Danny Folkman was coming to town for a weekend of painting, I had to jump on the opportunity to organize a paint out with him. We went to The Embarcadero just south of the Bay Bridge and were joined by a few other painters including Mila Kirilova and Kate Lamoure. Here’s what I came out with from that day:

Bay Bridge Palm

We had an amazing show at Crooners last month, during which both Polly Amber Ross and EnSeanTe proved to us that truly any song can be a torch song. Don’t miss out on the heartfelt and the hilarious musical stylings of our talented performers this month. Join us on December 22nd for a wintery celebration with the classiest queers in town.

My reading recommendation for you this month is Infinite City: a San Francisco Atlas by Rebecca Solnit. This book explores many lenses through which to see and explore San Francisco by combining illustrated maps and essays. Each map explores a contradiction or dichotomy, and the book overall sees San Francisco in both a critical and celebratory light.

Thank you for joining me for another month! While you await the next newsletter, you can check out my website to see my portfolio of plein air paintings, still lifes, block prints, figure drawings, tiny scale model houses, murals, and you can also find information on commissions!
