Silence of the Literature (Not the đ)
If a book falls in the forest ...
Gâday,
As September ended, I was remiss in not mentioning that two new titles were recently released.
Fortunately / unfortunately, I was heads down finishing another bookâone which I hope youâll be able to read very soon!
And so, we were faced with the age old question:
If a book is released, but not sent out to the newsletter, does it even exist?
I think not!
So, here is a little bit about the two new releases. My bad!
Short Story: Paint It Thrice
Description: A Writers of the Future Contest Honorable Mention honoree!
House painter Lewis receives a strange but simple request. Cover one window of an old, abandoned farmhouse with three coats of black paint.
Not every window. Not the whole house.
Just one single window.
Down on his luck and on the wrong side of fifty, Lewis takes the job. An easy and much needed payday, he thinks.
But sometimes the easiest jobs require the most sacrifice.
Pick up this immersive and frightening psychological horror short story that placed Honorable Mention in the famed Writers of the Future Contest!
Novel: Family Tree
Description: Former detective Joe Parry wakes up one morning to find his teenage daughter, Samantha, missing. At first, he hopes for standard teenager rebellion. But his instincts and a guilty conscience over their last encounter tell him otherwise.
Desperate to restore her business to its former glory, disgraced interior designer Marisol Suarez takes on a new client. One who offers an opportunity for redemption and renewed status. But getting to know the client dredges up old memories of a dark past. Of secrets covered up but not buried.
As Joe searches his suburban New Jersey town for clues about his daughterâs whereabouts and Marisol struggles to push forward in her business, their histories and futures twist in devastating ways.
Leading them toward a propulsive and deadly climax that neither anticipates.
Fans of Harlan Cobenâs standalone novels wonât want to miss this twisted dark suspense tale that delves into themes of redemption, revenge, and the big secrets of small towns.
Iâll check in later this the month with a few new announcements â maybe even something Halloween related đ.
Keep an eye on your inbox!
