I took down my show last weekend đź–¤
It felt strange to take the paintings off the walls at first, it seemed like they belonged there, but I hauled them to my car in an IKEA bag and now they’re leaning against a wall in my studio.

These abstract acrylic paintings on paper will be released for sale via email in a few weeks (March 29 to be specific, but I’ll remind you!). I’ll send more photos and details of each painting then and you can reply directly to claim one.

I made these paintings about questions I don’t have answers to. How do you accept loss? How do you process change? What does it mean to grow up, grow old, or grow apart?

In Homework Club a few months ago, Beth Pickens said, “art facilitates emotion.” I looked up the definition of facilitate, and it’s just, “to make something easy, or easier.” In other words, art makes it easier to feel. Art brings it to the surface. Art makes space.
What we can’t explain or fully understand still impacts us. Sometimes there are only colors and lines, sometimes there is only visual chaos and clarity, ugliness and beauty, overlapping shapes and empty space. Sometimes that’s the only thing that makes sense.
