The frivolity is the point

Prioritizing delight in hard times

My dear reader.

One of the ways I continue to explore the question of “what can a newsletter be?” is to periodically create spaces here where it’s not just me writing and you reading, but instead we can come together to share our feelings, thoughts, and questions about the same topic.

Honestly, I’m uninterested in only following the typical top-down model of “writer writes and reader reads,” which keeps us in separate spheres. What I want is for you to share, too. What I want is for all of us to learn from each other. To make each other laugh. To expand our collective feeling of solidarity and understanding.

And today, what I want is to know what you’re totally obsessed with.

What is the thing you love to talk about, even if it might seem silly or unimportant to others? What is the thing you’ve been going deep on lately? Which topic prompts you to have way too many tabs open as you delight in research and learning? Where does your mind go for pleasure? In a collapsing world with so much at stake and so much required of us each day, where do you find gladness and glee?
