Country Food For Urban Inuit

Approximately 6,000 Inuit live in Ottawa, where staying in touch with their home culture can be difficult. A new project called Reconseal Inuksiuti is making traditional seal meat sourced from nearby Magdalen Island available for urban Inuit organizations. This country food is well received by residents who are far from the familiar comforts of home.

Traditional Food Resurgence in the PNW

Speaking of food sovereignty, Crosscut's recent article highlights Indigenous organizers in Coast Salish territory, like the soon-to-open ʔálʔal Café in Seattle's Pioneer Square and the Nisqually Community Garden in DuPont, WA.
