Memorial totem pole will return home

Web Version

Hey News River readers,

We are finally in the month of the winter solstice! Traditionally, this is a time to marvel at the interconnectedness of the cosmos, and to look inward with great intention of caring for ourselves and our loved ones.

Enjoy one of the last few newsletters before the holidays. We thank you for supporting us throughout the year with your subscription!

Here's what else you may have missed in Indigenous news this week:

Natives Rising, an organization focused on recruiting Indigenous women to join the tech industry, received funding to continue their important work.

The CBC published a compelling article on the challenges of converting hundreds of remote Canadian communities from diesel to renewable energy.

An Indigenous drone company wants to make Mississauga First Nation its base of operations. Sky Canoe produces remotely piloted, zero-emission light cargo aircraft to ship goods to rural and remote communities.

We’re grateful to have our headquarters on traditional territory of the Lək̓ʷəŋən (Lkwungen, Songhees and Esquimalt) Peoples of the Coast Salish Nation.
