Upcoming Magic Collecting and History Events

Salute to Magic, Houdini Graveside Tour + Social, Collectors Magic Expo

Fellow Collectors and Historians,

You're probably aware that Bill Smith's excellent Magic Collector Expo is coming to Newark, NJ, from May 12-14th.  There are a couple of other events nearby, in the days prior to, of interest to magic fans, collectors, and historians.

The 117th Annual Salute to Magic Show
Saturday, May 9th, 2026 - 5:30 PM & 8:00 PM

Rudy Coby will be honored as the 2026 Magician of the Year.

The show will be held for the first time at The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, at Lincoln Center. The venue in the library is just steps away from their current acclaimed magic history exhibition: Mystery and Wonder: A Legacy of Golden Age Magicians in New York City.

There will be two performances on May 9th, one at 5:30 and one at 8:00pm. The exhibition can be viewed prior to the 5:30pm show (because it will close for the day shortly after that).

Houdini Graveside Tour and Collector's Get-Together

Sun, May, 10 2026 - 1 PM

Join Robert Dadras and Richard Cohn for a special tour of Harry Houdini's gravesite at Machpelah Cemetery in Glendale, Queens, New York. Houdini is buried with family members in this historic Jewish cemetery, marked by a granite monument featuring a bust of Houdini and the Society of American Magicians emblem.

Immediately after visiting Machpelah Cemetery, the group will go to another nearby cemetery to visit Señor Antonio Blitz's grave.

From the Blitz gravesite, the group will proceed to the famous German restaurant Zum Stammtisch at 2:30 PM, located just a few blocks away on the historic Main Street of Glendale.

Location: Machpelah Cemetery, Glendale, Queens, NY

Attendance at the graveside tour is open to all (no registration required), but space for the luncheon is limited, so please reach out to Robert as soon as possible to reserve your spot.

Robert will personally drive anyone who arrives without a car to Señor Blitz’s gravesite and to the lunch. The gravesite and the lunch spot are conveniently located near inexpensive NYC Transit.

There is no charge for the tour, but donations are always accepted. All proceeds from this tour benefit the Houdini Gravesite Restoration Fund, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization supporting Joe Devlin and Dorothy Dietrich's restoration efforts.
