We’re turning 10!

Members of our team have been working with — and building — CouchDB for more than 15 years. When it came time to pool this expertise to help other teams succeed with CouchDB, Neighbourhoodie was born in 2014. Since then the support for our resources, services, and community meetups has always been tremendous. Thank you!

🎁 Read on to learn how you can celebrate with us by grabbing a FREE Structured Query Server (SQS) license for your team.

Annual CouchDB™ User Survey

It’s time for the annual survey! (cough) Okay, okay, it may have been a couple of years since one of these came across your inbox. That means we’re even more curious to hear from you.

Take the survey, and don’t forget to share it with your colleagues.

This is a special opportunity for contributors to understand how CouchDB can better serve everyone’s needs, and gives the community an insight into what set-ups others are working with. We’ll be collecting results over the next month and look forward to sharing the results once we’ve processed them.

Celebrate Our Birthday: Claim Your Free SQS License Now

As part of our celebration, we’re offering five teams free lifetime licenses to Structured Query Server (SQS)— our powerful tool that brings SQL-like querying to CouchDB.

Structured Query Server can help your team:

  • Ask the right questions by empowering less technical teammates, like Data Analysts and Product Managers.
  • Save time by leveraging robust SQL-like queries on your CouchDB data.
  • Build more complex software without sacrificing performance or replication features.

To take advantage of this special offer, simply send an email to sqs@neighbourhood.ie letting us know a bit about:

  • your project
  • why SQS is a good fit for your team

and we’ll reach out to let you know if you’re successful.

In exchange, we’ll ask for your feedback on how SQS fits your needs and suggestions for improvements as you get up and running.

Visit our blog to learn more about this special offer and SQS

T&Cs: This special offer is available for a limited time. Licenses are for the current version of SQS and do not include ongoing support, which can be purchased separately.

Neighbourhoodie Team Updates

Sovereign Tech Fund

It’s nearly been six months since we partnered with the Sovereign Tech Fund and started contributing to partner projects and FOSS more widely. If you’ve followed this series you’ll know there are security benefits to the work we’ve done, and the latest project is no different:

Tips From the Blog

We regularly share CouchDB tips over on our blog, but this time we snuck some PouchDB in:

  • PouchDB: Use CouchDB as an API
  • In Views, Avoid Emitting the Document _id

Want to Get Involved?

Apache CouchDB is an open source project run by volunteers from around the world, including Neighbourhoodie. We’ve become a fairly large team, but CouchDB can always use more contributions! If you are knowledgeable in any one of these fields: Erlang, Elixir, writing documentation, client-side JavaScript, Docker, or continuous integration with Jenkins on Linux, macOS, FreeBSD or Windows, CouchDB would love to count on your help.

That’s (Probably) It For 2024!

If you’re a Neighbourhoodie customer — or want to become one — you’ll likely hear from us again, but if not, you probably won’t find us in your inbox until the new year.

We’re wishing everyone a great end to 2024! We’ll be spending some time with family and friends to ring in 2025, and we hope you’ll be doing the same. Bye for now!
