For me, forest gardening is a large part of this response. It is essentially the creation of edible ecosystems, creating resilient food systems and tackling the Ecological Emergency. | I have started work on a school forest garden, and also have been landscaping a local eco-home development. I have also noticed lots of White Red Valerian in the nearby village of St Dogmaels, Iβm assuming this is a sport rather than cultivated as it scattered throughout the village. | It is a neophyte, a relatively recent introduction, first recorded sighting in 1763 in the UK. And it is also a forest garden plant as well, with edible leaves. When I have tried them, I found them rather bitter, maybe I left it too late in the season as many plants become more bitter as summer progresses and fresh growth hardens. | | Share | | | Forward | | |
