RSS Voices and the Future of WebAssembly

Hey friends,

What's the worst kind of tea on a hot day?

Humidity.

(Seriously though, I'm ready to start moving towards Fall... 🥵🌡️)

Thinking Too Hard 🤔

What do you rely on to hear unique industry voices? I'm a firm believer in taking back control from 'the algorithm' with hand-curated RSS feeds. It allows me to hear directly from individuals without any ads or vacuous sponsored content.

If you're not set up with an RSS reader, I can recommend Feedly and Inoreader for their free tiers but there are tons of options out there.

But here's the problem, discoverability is a BEAR. HOW do you find all these unique voices?!

I can help with that part. I have... (checks number)... 462 unique voices from the web industry very loosely grouped by category. You can scan all the voices here, or simply download the OPML file and import it into your reader of choice. I'm continually updating this list so check back every so often for fresh voices!

(Another small tip, MANY email newsletters also offer an RSS option, just like this very newsletter, if your email is overcrowded.)

Happy reading!

Interesting Web Bits 🍜

Web Stuff

  • Andy Wingo summarizes the wins and losses of WebAssembly and where it might be going.
  • Aardvark has attempted to convert WCAG a11y standards into plain english format.
  • A 14kb page will load faster than a 15kb page.

Other Stuff

  • For all those times you've wanted to hide a message in a deck of cards...
  • Instead of the normal EDC, Juha-Matti Santala has an EDTGC (Every Day Tabletop Gaming Carry). Currently I just have a deck of cards, but I wonder what else I could fit in my backpack...? 🤔
  • I deleted Bluesky, Mastodon and LinkedIn off my phone... Try it! Delete your social media apps for a week and see what happens! (I dare you! 😜)
  • I don't own a 3D printer, but sites like this make me want one! Check out those large orchid fans!
  • Vystery is a game that starts with dots and lets you dial in detail click by click. How few moves until you can recognize what's in the image? Pretty neat and surprisingly difficult!
