Pies and the TypeScript Kiddie Pool
Hey folks,
It's a shorter week this week as there's some pies with my name on them. Hope you have a great holiday, wherever and however you celebrate it!
Thinking Too Hard
I don't have a problem with Vanilla JavaScript. I LIKE that the patterns that live there, I'm comfortable with it.
BUT...
I've had a chance recently to dip my toes in to the TypeScript pool and there are parts of Typescript that are really appealing. Yes, types are great BUT the tooling that comes with it... The in-context hints, the ability to jump to definitions. Just great.
So TypeScript as a TOOL is fantastic, as a language I'm still ambivalent (I think largely because I don't directly work in the problem-space that TypeScript helps solve). But it's still early days. Check back in a few weeks and maybe I'll have an entirely different opinion.
