Living Under a Rock and Mushroom Keyboards
In which I become a blanket burrito and read real things from real people.
Hey friends,
Fall temperatures are here! Now I can cocoon myself with various plush fabrics and feel NO SHAME.

Thinking Too Hard ๐ค
Last week, was talking about techo kaigis and Japanese stationary to my oldest daughter, who paused and asked, "How do you learn about this stuff? You're not even on social media!"
It's true, I'm not. (At least not actively). The shortest answer I could come up with was, "...from other people." I felt a little sad that I no longer included social media as "other people". To me, "other people" are now found in personal conversations, or the awful lot of newsletters and personal blogs I read each week, or in Slack channels at work. And THAT made me feel a little less sadโthat I have these tiny windows of joy that I read from REAL people.
Where do you find your "other people"?

Web Stuff
- Lexi Mattick put together a little experiment and explainer on internet technology on How Did I Get Here?.
- An interesting CSS experiment of transitioning focus indicators.
- Bramus is experimenting with a CSS-only fade-in on scroll using @starting-style. Pretty neat, though not COMPLETELY supported.
- Here's a hot take: "You're not paid to write code". Tyler Treat argues we're paid to bring value to a business, not additional systems. To make decisions.
- Posthog comes in with another hot take: Collaboration Sucks. Both these hot takes are about how often overcomplicate things for ourselves. Where focused, INTENTIONAL collaboration is a magical thing, soulless, chirpy systems full of weak opinions is the... opposite of that. (What is the opposite of magic...? ๐ค)
- And because I'm a sucker for fonts: Myna, a mono-spaced font focused on symbols.
