Issue 100 and Chatbot Sycophancy
Hey friends,
Why are writers always cold?
They’re surrounded by drafts.
(Seriously tho, my draft folder is out of control... 😬)
Words I Wrote ✍️
Speaking of writing, this is my 100th Newsletter Issue!
Yep, I've been at it for nearly 2 years now, so I took some time to talk about things I've learned about writing along the way.
Interesting Web Bits 🍜
Web Stuff
- A nice technique for an infinite scrolling logo marquee with CSS.
- Maggie Appleton has a interesting take on how chatbot sycophancy might be undermining Enlightenment values. Makes you think... (which is her point!)
- Miriam Suzanne talks about Cascade Layers.
- Una, as usual, details an exciting new CSS feature dropping soon that helps create a "scroll spy" effect.
- Peter Pistorius rolls in with the spicy take that SPA's aren't needed with modern browser capabilities. I'm still convinced there exists a use case for SPA's (long sessions, high amounts of user changes, offline support, etc) but it's exciting to see all these shiny new features land in browsers!
Other Stuff
- This guy gets it: "I'll give up Neovim when you pry it from my cold, dead hands".
- Ben Holman spent 6 years building a "ridiculous wooden pixel display".
- Draw a fish, watch it swim! 🐟
- A fascinating look into the visual reasoning of Bluey's environment.
- Someone made a maze game entirely in Powerpoint/Google Slides 😲
